Since 1983, Bret Gasaway has been a driving force at Gasaway Gasaway Bankston, where he now serves as President. His career in architecture began through hands-on experience in the construction field, which gave him a practical foundation that continues to influence his work today. After studying at Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University, Bret grew his career with a focus on listening closely to clients and designing projects that fit their unique needs.
Bret believes the heart of every project lies in “the Big Idea.” Over the years, he has led numerous projects across the Gulf South, with some of his proudest work including SLU Penington Center, North Oaks Diagnostic Center and Satsuma Medical Center, Landmark of Hammond, and multiple other nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout the state. He notes that every project brings its own challenges, each with different issues and requirements, but it’s that problem-solving process that drives his passion for architecture.
A licensed architect in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, Bret is an active member of NCARB and the AIA. Outside the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Guided by lessons from his father, who remains his biggest influence, Bret carries a favorite motto that blends wisdom with practicality: “Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.”
Family is central to Bret’s life. He is a proud father to his daughter, Brooke, and grandfather to his grandson, Luciano. Known by those close to him for his love of the outdoors, Bret also has a “green thumb” and enjoys nurturing life in more ways than one. Looking ahead, one of his bucket-list dreams is to hunt and explore the Yukon.
