Live Oak Jr. High School -Renovations
As part of a broader campus renovation, our team was commissioned by the Livingston Parish School Board (LPSB) and the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (LOHSEP) through a cooperative endeavor agreement to transform the existing Main and Auxiliary Gymnasiums into a certified first responder hurricane shelter.
The facility was upgraded to meet FEMA 361 standards for storm protection. Enhancements included the installation of impact-resistant screens over windows and doors, structural roof reinforcements engineered to withstand hurricane-force winds, and the addition of a new cooling and ventilation system designed to support emergency shelter operations. A generator was installed to provide reliable backup power for both gymnasiums during critical events.
In addition to life-safety improvements, the project included comprehensive interior renovations. New basketball goals were installed, the Auxiliary Gym received new epoxy flooring, and the Main Gym floor was refinished. Locker areas were refurbished, new restrooms were constructed, and a concession stand was added to better serve students and the community.
This project reflects our commitment to designing facilities that not only enhance daily student life but also serve as resilient, community-focused infrastructure in times of need.
