Joseph B. Lancaster Elementary School
Lancaster B. Elementary School is a two-story facility tailored to maximize functionality on a narrow, east–west oriented site. The building’s design responds directly to its environment, incorporating deep overhangs and interior solar screening to reduce solar gain and improve overall energy performance.
Architectural forms and materials were carefully selected to reflect the surrounding residential neighborhood, creating a campus that feels both connected and contextual within the community.
Sustainability is a key driver of the design, with high-efficiency building systems, LED lighting, and materials with high recycled content contributing to long-term performance and reduced environmental impact.
The campus is organized into five classroom wings and includes a library, cafetorium, kitchen, full administrative suite, gymnasium, and a stage—providing a well-rounded environment that supports both academic and extracurricular activities.
