Florida Avenue Elementary Renovations
The renovations to the existing Florida Ave Elementary School includes enclosing the exterior walkways between the main classroom buildings, a sprinkler system in the newly connected buildings, and the renovation of the music room, cafeteria, and kitchen. The school would also have a new front entry that would tie into the design of the new enclosure throughout and give the school amore modern and grand entrance. The existing brick façade classroom buildings are not all the same design as the campus expanded throughout the decades; therefore, the new enclosure is entirely aluminum curtainwall construction so as not to compete with or combine the dissident facades. At the center of the long enclosure, the curtain wall extends higher to let more natural sunlight in within the narrow hallway than is currently available. The combination of this new enclosure and the new canopies at each of the three major entrances provides for more protection from the elements and further security for the school, in addition to the upgraded finishes in this central area.
