Intern Architect

Gasaway Gasaway Bankston Architects has been serving the Gulf Coast region since 1973, we have established a reputation for quality and accountability. We design buildings that serve our clients’ needs for many years to come, while also meeting the budgets and deadlines they face today. Along the way, we have become a leading regional firm for primary and secondary schools, healthcare facilities, government structures, and other projects. We are currently seeking talented, self-motivated individuals that have an excellent work ethic and are accustomed to a professional work atmosphere.

Qualification requirements:
-Professional Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited university
-Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit Architecture (Revit Architecture is primarily used in office)
-Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Office 365 programs
-Participating in Intern Development Program (IDP)

Responsibilities:
-Assist in preliminary building and life safety code research
-Assist in zoning ordinance research for a project site
-Work on small projects directly under a principal and on larger projects with a small team
-Rendering in Revit Architecture and/or 3D Studio Max 2014 Mental Ray
-Assist in presentations using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator)
-Assist in coordination with consultants during design phases
-Assist in the construction administration of projects
-Prepare and present project designs for in-house design reviews and collaboration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
-Interest in design in professional and personal life
-Creative thought throughout the design phases
-Freehand drawing abilities are preferred
-Experience with technical detailing and/or construction experience
-Ability to articulate concepts or instructions verbally or in writing
-Ability to problem-solve independently or within a team environment
-Self-motivated and able to work independently
-Organized and ability to work on multiple tasks in an effective manner
-Willing to learn and ask questions

We strongly support the Intern Development Program and provide study materials and resources for the Architect Registration Exam.

Project Architect

Qualification Requirements:
-Must have architectural license in Louisiana for 2-5 years
-Professional Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited university
-Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit Architecture (Revit Architecture is primarily used in office)
-Experience in Microsoft Office and Excel Programs (Office 365 used in office)

Responsibilities:
-Prepare building and life safety code analysis
-Prepare zoning ordinance analysis for a project site
-Coordination with consultants and incorporate consultant work into project
-Prepare (individually or in a team) and coordinate working drawings and specifications
-Assist on probable cost for projects
-Interprets and coordinates design concepts with principal-in-charge and incorporates into drawings and specifications
-Assist administrators to maintain current records through all phases of design and construction
-Prepare, monitor and update production schedules, meet deadlines and coordinate team tasks
-Prepare meeting reports during the design phases with clients and consultants
-Review and markup drawings and specifications
-Respond to RFIs, prepare addendums, and review product substitutions during bidding phase
-CA experience including administration, contract interpretation, submittal review, client & contractor communications
-Prepare field observation reports during construction phase

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
-Passionate about design and architecture in professional and personal life
-Experience in all phases of design
-Organized and ability to work on multiple projects in an effective and efficient manner
-Freehand drawing and artistic abilities
-Technical knowledge
-Experience in rendering and layout programs (3D Studio Max 2014 and Adobe Creative Suite used in office)
-Ability to articulate concepts and instructions verbally and in writing
-Ability to prepare and present information clearly to a client, school board, historical or planning commission, or parish council meeting
-Ability to problem-solve independently and within a team environment
-Self-motivated and able to work independently
